The I.E.E.N.I. Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) Not-for-Profit Corporation, is presently planning to acquire 400 acres of agricultural land located in a prime area of the Vilcabamba Valley, Ecuador. This will preserve the land and block commercial development in the valley and the surrounding rainforest. Our time is running out to act because there are plans to subdivide and sell this primary land to developers.
Our Mission is to create World Heritage Parks to preserve
Vilcabamba Valley and the Rainforest (The Lungs of the Planet) of Ecuador.
Securing this land will be a pivotal step in preserving these important regions because the I.E.E.N.I. Foundation has the expertise. We will do this by:
1. Our Foundation, and the chiefs of the Rainforest, will meet with the president of Ecuador and petition the United Nations to transform Vilcabamba Valley and the Rainforest of Ecuador into World Heritage Parks. The precedent for this project is the Charles Darwin Foundation’s success which turned the Galapagos Islands into a World Heritage Park in perpetuity.
2. Developing local sustainable businesses to maintain the World Heritage Parks, using the natural resources of the land. This will create a blueprint for other agricultural areas that will restore their vibrant communities and provide a prosperous life for them without needing to destroy the valley and the rainforest. This will also provide numerous jobs for the local people so they do not need to leave their ancestral homes and move to the cities.
We ask for Donations to preserve these lands and cultures. Donations are made to the I.E.EN.I. Foundation and is a practical way to secure the survival of the Rainforest (The Lungs of the Planet) and the indigenous people. Within our mission, we are commanding a positive difference for all the people of our world.
